Portland, ME

Visiting Portland, Maine on a cruise is an incredible experience. Located on the East Coast of the United States, Portland is a picturesque city with a unique blend of old and new. The port of Portland is bustling with activity and features a unique blend of modern and historical architecture. The city is surrounded by Casco Bay and offers stunning views of the harbor and its many islands. 

The ship docked in downtown, Portland.  When you step off the ship (and walk down the pier) into the vibrant and bustling atmosphere of Portland. The city is filled with a variety of shops, fantastic restaurants, and attractions. You can take a leisurely stroll through the cobblestone streets and explore the city’s many historical sites, including the Portland Observatory, the oldest standing observation tower in the United States. 

As you wander the city, you’ll find plenty of delicious seafood restaurants. Try the famous lobster roll, or sample some of the freshest seafood in the country.  There is something for everyone.  I was surprised to learn about the popularity of sweet potato donuts.  The line was down the street!  Be sure to take a walk along the waterfront to take in the beautiful views of the harbor and its many islands. 

The harbor is also home to a number of unique attractions. Take a ferry ride to Portland Head Light, the oldest lighthouse in the United States, or take a cruise around the harbor to spot some of the local wildlife. 

An excursion worth taking is near the pier, called  The Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Co. & Museum is a living museum dedicated to preserving the history of these small-scale railroads. The museum features a collection of vintage locomotives, rolling stock, and artifacts that tell the story of this unique form of transportation. The train is an experience like no other. From its picturesque landscape and charming small towns to the unique and interesting history of narrow gauge railroads, the train ride is sure to provide an unforgettable experience. 

The train ride itself is a unique experience. Riders will get to experience the sights and sounds of a real train ride, with the coaches swaying and the whistle blowing as the train winds its way through the countryside. The ride is incredibly scenic, with views of the ocean, rolling hills, small towns, and a picturesque view of the Portland Harbor.  At the end of the trip, visitors will be taken to the museum, where they can explore the collection of trains and artifacts, as well as learn more about the history of narrow gauge railroads.

Another fun trip around Portland and just a short walk from the pier as well is the Portland Fire Engine Co. Tour, you get to see the city in a way that you can’t access on your own. Climb aboard an open-air vintage fire engine and set off on a sightseeing and shopping tour that you won’t forget.  This tour is for 10-12 people at a time. 

As you take in the coastal scenery, you’ll be treated to live narration accompanied by high-resolution photographs from the Maine Historical Society on an onboard multimedia system. This allows you to learn about the history of the city in an immersive and entertaining way. 

The tour will take you around Portland’s cobblestone streets, where you can explore the many shops and restaurants. You may even spot some of the city’s iconic landmarks, such as the Portland Observatory, the Old Port, and the Portland Head Light. This tour is a must-do experience if you’re visiting Portland, Maine. You won’t regret it!

For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, Hilton Head Island is teeming with activities that are sure to thrill. Being a semi-adventurous traveler, there is nothing more thrilling than exploring new places by bike or scooter. Recently, I had the opportunity to explore a beautiful island by biking and scooting around. This island is perfect for biking and scooting, with trails everywhere. During our trip, we rented mountain bikes and went exploring the lush, tropical landscape. I was able to take in the breathtaking views of the ocean and the lush greenery. I was also able to explore the local villages and get a feel for the culture of the island. I even stopped to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables from local farmers. 

Later on our trip, I decided to rent a scooter and go on a different kind of adventure. I was able to zip around the island with the wind in my face and take in the sights and sounds of the area. It was a thrilling experience and I had a great time soaking up the sun and exploring the island.

An exciting excursion that I recommend is the Sunset Dolphin watching cruise. The cruise departed from the Harbour Town Marina and took us out on the Calibogue Sound for an hour-long tour of the area. As the sun sank gently in the sky, we watched the dolphins swim gracefully in the waters below.  It was truly an incredible sight! The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the local wildlife and shared interesting facts about the dolphins as we toured the area. He even pointed out some of the birds and other animals that inhabit the area. The cruise was the perfect way to end a day of sightseeing in Hilton Head, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique way to experience the area. Not to mention, the sunset views were exquisite!

Golfers will be delighted by the island’s many courses, all offering stunning views and challenging greens. From the picturesque Sea Pines golf course to the world-renowned Harbour Town Golf Links, there are plenty of opportunities to hone your skills and enjoy a round of golf. 

Nature lovers will find plenty of opportunities to explore the island’s many parks and nature preserves. From the Sea Pines Forest Preserve to the Coastal Discovery Museum, visitors can learn more about the island’s fascinating wildlife and lush greenery. 

Hilton Head Island is also home to a variety of excellent restaurants, offering everything from fresh seafood to delicious Italian cuisine. From family-friendly eateries to upscale restaurants, there are plenty of options to satisfy any appetite.

Port of Miami - Cruise Port

Los Angeles to San Francisco on the PCH

During 2021, I had the opportunity to drive the Pacific Coast Highway (Route 1) starting in Los Angeles and making short stops in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Monterey Santa Cruz, and finally stopping in San Francisco. 

This was an amazing experience and I’m so grateful that I was able to do it during the pandemic. The drive from Los Angeles to Ventura was a beautiful one, with the sun shining and the clouds in the sky. We stopped in Ventura to take in the quaint beach town and soak up some sunshine. We also stopped at a few local shops to pick up some souvenirs. 

From Ventura, we drove to Santa Barbara, which was even more stunning. We stopped at a few beaches to take in the views of the ocean and enjoy the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. We also stopped at the pier to take some pictures and get a few more souvenirs. 

The drive from Santa Barbara to Pismo Beach was breathtaking. We drove along the coast, with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. We stopped to take in the views from the cliffs and take a few pictures. When we arrived in Pismo Beach, we took a walk along the shore and watched the sunset. 

After Pismo Beach, we drove to Morro Bay. The drive to this small beach town was even more breathtaking than the previous drives. We stopped at Morro Bay State Park to take some pictures and take in the views. We then took a walk along the beach, watching the birds and listening to the waves. 

The drive from Morro Bay to Big Sur was an adventure. We drove along the coast, with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. We stopped at several spots along the way to take pictures and take in the stunning views. When we arrived in Big Sur we stopped at a few of the beaches to take some more pictures and watch the sunset. 

Big Sur to Monterey was even more stunning than the previous drives. We stopped at several spots along the way to take pictures and take in the views of the ocean and the mountains. When we arrived in Monterey, we stopped at the pier to take some pictures and get some souvenirs. 

Onwards from Monterey to Santa Cruz was a beautiful one. We stopped at several spots along the way to take pictures and take in the views of the ocean and the mountains. We also stopped at the Santa Cruz boardwalk to take some pictures and enjoy the beach. 

The last leg of our journey from Santa Cruz to San Francisco. We stopped at several spots along the way to take pictures and take in the views of the ocean and the mountains. When we arrived in San Francisco, we stopped at the pier to take some pictures and get some souvenirs. I am so thankful that I was able to experience this amazing drive along the Pacific Coast Highway during the pandemic. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget.

Hawai'i - Waikiki Beach

Hawaii's Waikiki Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the United States. Located on the south end of Oahu, the beach is a popular destination for vacationers looking to relax, swim, or explore the tropical paradise that is the Hawaiian Islands. The beach is surrounded by a lush landscape of palms, sand, and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, creating a breathtaking panorama that is sure to take your breath away.

The sand on Waikiki Beach is white and powdery, making it a perfect spot to take a stroll and take in the sights and sounds of the ocean. The beach is also a great place to catch some waves, as it provides some of the best surfing conditions on the islands. From novice to expert surfers, there is something for everyone here. The calm and shallow waters are also suitable for swimming and snorkeling, providing a unique opportunity to explore the beautiful underwater world.

Another great thing about Waikiki Beach is the many activities and attractions that can be found here. From beach volleyball to kayaking and paddle boarding, there is something for everyone to enjoy. There are also plenty of beachfront restaurants and bars, offering an array of dining options. Whether you're looking for a quick snack or a romantic dinner, there is something for everyone. 

Waikiki Beach is also a great spot to take in some of the local culture. From Hawaiian music and hula dancers to the vibrant nightlife, the beach is a great place to experience the unique culture of the Hawaiian Islands. During the day, visitors can also partake in a variety of water sports, such as surfing, snorkeling, and stand-up paddle boarding. 

My recent excursion to Waikiki Beach in Hawaii included a once-in-a-lifetime experience aboard an Atlantis Submarine. The submarine offered a unique way to explore the depths of Hawaii’s ocean, where I saw an array of brightly colored coral, fish, and other sea creatures. The crew was knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour was a great opportunity to learn more about the area’s marine life and ecosystems. The submarine also had a viewing area with large windows, which made the experience even more immersive. All in all, the Atlantis Submarine excursion was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Waikiki Beach.

No trip to Waikiki Beach is complete without a visit to the nearby Diamond Head State Park. (More on this later) This park boasts incredible views of the ocean and the city, and it is a great place to take a hike or explore the many trails. The park also has a variety of amenities, including a swimming pool, picnic areas, and a playground. 

Waikiki Beach is also a great spot for shopping, as it is home to several upscale boutiques and souvenir shops. Here, visitors can find a variety of Hawaiian-themed items, such as jewelry, clothing, and artwork. The beach also has a number of art galleries and boutiques, offering a unique selection of locally-made goods.

Oahu's Diamond Head

Diamond head at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii is an amazing experience. The view of the majestic and expansive ocean stretching out into the horizon is breathtaking. The sparkling and pristine white sand beach is a sight to behold and the turquoise waters beckon you to come and explore. There is a great array of activities to do at Waikiki Beach and Diamond head provides a great backdrop for a fantastic day of fun in the sun. 

Diamond head is a volcanic crater located on the island of Oahu. It is also one of the most popular tourist attractions on the island. The crater is easily visible from Waikiki Beach and can be reached by taking a short hike up the trail. It is a 760-foot high extinct volcanic crater that was formed over 300,000 years ago. The view from the top of the crater is spectacular and it is worth the effort to make the climb up the trail. 

The hike up the Diamond head Trail is relatively easy and can be completed in about an hour. It is a great way to get a good workout and take in the breathtaking view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Along the trail, you will pass through several switchbacks and tunnels, making the hike even more exciting. Once you reach the top of the crater, you will be rewarded with a 360-degree view of the entire island. 

At the top of Diamond head, you can also explore the many native flora and fauna that make their home in the area. There are many species of birds and other wildlife that can be seen in the crater. You can also take in the stunning views of the entire island and the surrounding ocean. It is a great place to take pictures and appreciate the beauty of nature. 

After your hike around Diamond head, you can also explore Waikiki Beach. There are many activities to do here, from swimming and surfing to snorkeling and kayaking. You can also take a leisurely stroll along the beach and enjoy the beautiful scenery and the warm sunshine. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a drink with friends and family. 

If you’re looking for the perfect way to start off your day in Hawaii, look no further than a cycling excursion down Diamond Head at Waikiki Beach! We were picked up in a comfortable 12 person van and taken to the top of the Volcano.  The morning air was crisp and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. From the top of Diamond Head, I was able to take in the entire Honolulu skyline and the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The descent was a thrilling experience, as the sun slowly rose over the horizon and I felt the cool morning breeze on my skin. As I reached the bottom, I was able to take a rest and admire the beauty of the beach and surrounding area. After taking a few photos and soaking in the incredible view, I continued my journey down the coastline and enjoyed the peacefulness of the morning. Cycling down Diamond Head at Waikiki Beach is truly an experience I won’t soon forget.

If you’re looking for a more leisurely activity, you can also take a tour of the Pearl Harbor Memorial. This memorial commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and is a reminder of the sacrifices that were made during World War II. The site also houses the USS Arizona Memorial, which is a beautiful and solemn place to visit.

A trip to Diamond head at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii is sure to be an unforgettable experience. The views from the top of the crater are breathtaking and the beach is beautiful and perfect for a day of relaxation and exploration. There are plenty of activities to do and places to explore, making this an ideal destination for any traveler.

Grand Cayman is a stunning Caribbean paradise located in the western Caribbean Sea. Surrounded by white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture, it’s the perfect destination for a day trip while on a cruise. 

When you tender off the cruise ship and onto the bustling George Town harbor, you’ll be swept away by the unique sights and sounds of the Caribbean. Perhaps visiting Hell wasn't on your to-do list, but Hell in the Grand Cayman in the Caribbean is an experience that is both unique and surreal. Hell is a small, rocky outcropping of land that sits just off the northwest coast of the island. It's a strange but fascinating tourist spot that shouldn't be missed. The best way to get to Hell is by taking a tour of the island. Most tours will make a stop at Hell, allowing you to get out and explore this strange land. As you approach, you'll be struck by the stark contrast between the bright blue waters of the Caribbean Sea and the stark black rocks of Hell.  You'll be able to explore Hell and take some amazing pictures. The rocks are mostly blackened and jagged, with a few patches of white limestone scattered throughout. The terrain is very rugged and uneven, so be sure to wear proper shoes. 

One of the most interesting sights in Hell is the post office. Yes, you read that correctly, Hell has its own post office. Here you can purchase postcards and stamps with the Hell postmark. It's a great way to remember your visit. In addition to the post office, there are also a few souvenir shops where you can purchase t-shirts and other items with the Hell logo. There's even a small café where you can grab a snack and a drink before heading back to the boat. After exploring Hell, you'll be ready to head back to the boat, but not before taking a few pictures. The stark contrast between the black rocks and the bright blue sea makes for some amazing photos. Plus, you'll be able to show off your postcards with the Hell postmark to your friends and family back home.

Grand Cayman is the perfect destination for a day trip while on a cruise. From exploring white sandy beaches to swimming with stingrays and sampling Caribbean cuisine, your day in Grand Cayman will be one to remember.

Roatan

Visiting the Caribbean island of Roatan on a cruise ship is a memorable experience that any traveler should not miss. This beautiful island is located off the coast of Honduras and is known for its stunning beaches, natural beauty, and vibrant culture.

Bar Harbor, ME

Visiting Bar Harbor, ME on a cruise is a truly wonderful experience. The town is situated on the east coast of Maine and is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning scenery, abundant wildlife, and maritime culture. 

The moment our cruise ship arrived at Bar Harbor, we were immediately taken in by its picturesque beauty. The harbor was filled with sailboats of all sizes, the buildings of downtown twinkling in the sunshine, and the distant mountains of Acadia National Park providing a breathtaking backdrop. We tendered into the port, due to the cruise ship size.

Located on the rugged coast of Maine, Acadia National Park is home to some of the most stunning natural scenery in the country. From its lush forests and jagged cliffs to its crystal-clear lakes and hidden coves, a cruise to Acadia National Park will leave you in awe. 

The forests and rocky cliffs stretch as far as the eye can see, and the crisp, salty air is invigorating. As you disembark and start exploring, you’ll come across a variety of wildlife, including seals and whales, and be able to take part in a variety of activities, such as kayaking and hiking. 

One of the must-see attractions of Acadia National Park is the Cadillac Mountain summit. This incredible mountain offers panoramic views of the entire park, and is the highest point on the East Coast, making it a popular spot for photographers and sightseers. As you climb up the mountain’s rocky trail, you’ll be able to take in the stunning views of the surrounding landscape and the ocean beyond. 

Once you reach the top of Cadillac Mountain, you’ll be able to take in the breathtaking views of the entire park. To the east, you’ll see the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west, the forested islands of Frenchman Bay. To the south, you’ll be able to spot the rocky cliffs of Schoodic Point and the open waters of Jordan Pond. After taking in the sights at Cadillac Mountain, you can explore the many other attractions of Acadia National Park. 

We started our day by exploring the streets of Bar Harbor, taking in its unique charm and old-fashioned New England charm. We stopped at various shops, sampling the local seafood and sampling local specialties such as whoopie pies.  We also stopped to enjoy some of the local seafood, such as lobster rolls, clam chowder, and mussels.  The waterfront is a great place to spend an afternoon. We strolled along the docks and admired the stunning views of the harbor.

Overall, our visit to Bar Harbor was an incredible experience. From the charming downtown to the stunning views of Cadillac Mountain, there is something for everyone to enjoy in Bar Harbor. We can't wait to come back again!

Boston, MA - Day Trip

I just got back from a day trip around Boston, and it was amazing! The city is such a fascinating place, full of history and beauty. I started my day off at Faneuil Hall, the iconic marketplace in downtown Boston. As I walked around, I was amazed by the 18th-century architecture, the shops and stalls, and the street performers. I even stopped to try some of the delicious food, like the famous clam chowder. 

Next, I took a stroll along the Freedom Trail, which is a 2.5-mile path that takes you through some of the city’s most historic sites. I was especially moved by the stop at the Old North Church, where Paul Revere hung the famous lanterns that alerted the city of the British arrival. 

After that, I decided to take a tour of the USS Constitution, the oldest commissioned warship in the world. I was so amazed by the size and power of the ship, and I got to learn about its fascinating history. 

My next stop was the Boston Common, the oldest public park in the United States. I was able to explore the park, relax on the grass, and even take a ride on the Swan Boats. 

From there, I made my way to Beacon Hill, one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the city. I was able to explore the narrow streets and admire the beautiful 19th-century townhouses. The day ended with a visit to the world-famous Harvard University. I was so inspired by the prestigious university and its amazing architecture. 

Overall, it was an incredible day of exploring the city of Boston! I couldn’t have asked for a better day full of history and beauty. I can’t wait to come back and experience more of what the city has to offer.

Bahamas

Having traveled to the Bahamas many times on cruises, I have found it to be a paradise for beach lovers, offering an array of activities such as scuba diving, shopping, and high-end resorts. The 700 islands provide plenty of options, with many uninhabited, and visitors can experience the coral gardens of Orange Bowl Reef, the luxury of Atlantis, and the fashion and shops of Paradise Island and Nassau. Whether you visit for a night or a week, the Bahamas has something to offer everyone. 

The Bahamas is a perfect destination for those looking for a fun and adventurous ocean-themed cruise. Visitors can explore the mesmerizing shades of blue, feel the warmth of the breezes, dive and discover underwater worlds, meet marine animals, and shop for island souvenirs.

The Bahamas is a subtropical destination with year-round comfortable temperatures of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It is easy to get around with jitneys and ferries going to Nassau, Cable Beach, and Paradise Island. October to January is the best time to see Tiger Sharks, December to March is the time for Hammerhead Sharks, and Oceanic Whitetips can be seen from April to June. 

When visiting the Bahamas, look for the Bahamahost sticker on taxis for excellent service, witness the Changing of the Guard at the Government House on the second Friday of the month, and use both the Bahamian and US dollar interchangeably. 

Conch is a large mollusk that is popular in the Bahamas for making dishes such as conch salad, conch fritters, and chowder. Pigeon peas are often mixed with onions, tomatoes, spices, and rice to make "Peas n' Rice", a dish with additional flavors like tomato paste, fresh thyme, and salted pork or bacon. Switcha is a Bahamian drink made with lemons and limes and is often enjoyed as an accompaniment to desserts or a refreshing beverage on hot days.

From the incredible beaches and vibrant culture to the breathtaking views and unique attractions, The Bahamas is sure to provide you with a truly awesome experience.

Grand Canyon Skywalk - West Rim

Not long ago I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Grand Canyon West Rim on a one-day bus tour from Las Vegas. The tour took us to the Hualapai Reservation in Peach Springs, AZ, and it was truly a sight to behold. 

After a couple of hours, we arrive at the reservation. The road is unpaved from the highway and was a bit bumpy. The first thing I noticed was the sheer size of the Grand Canyon. As I gazed out at the canyon walls, I was reminded of how small and insignificant I am in comparison to something so immense. It was a humbling experience and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and admiration for the wonders of nature. 

We were taken through the promenade and shown lockers to leave all belonging as nothing could go with us onto the Skywalk. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is an engineering marvel, located at the west rim of the Grand Canyon, is a horseshoe-shaped, glass-bottom bridge suspended 4,000 feet above the canyon floor. It is an incredible feat of engineering and it provides stunning views of the canyon from a unique perspective. 

I also learned some interesting facts about the Grand Canyon Skywalk. It is made of reinforced steel and tempered glass and is capable of supporting up to 100 people at a time. As I stepped onto the bridge, I felt the glass beneath my feet, and I was amazed at how sturdy it felt. Many people clung to the sides and held on, but I was daring and just meandered back and forth, gazing at the view Mother Nature set out for us. 

The view of the canyon from the Skywalk was absolutely breathtaking. I could see the Colorado River winding its way through the canyon and the breathtaking rock formations of the canyon walls. I could feel the sun on my face and the wind in my hair, and I was in awe of the beauty I was witnessing. 

As I looked out at the horizon, I felt a sense of peace and calm come over me. I was in the presence of something truly special and I was reminded of how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful world. 

I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon West Rim and experience the Grand Canyon Skywalk for myself. It was an unforgettable experience and one I will always cherish.

Cliffs of Moher - Ireland

Today I am taking an escorted bus tour to the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare, Ireland. I am so excited to take this tour, I have heard a lot of good things about it. I start my journey by boarding the bus which is comfortable and well-equipped. The driver is friendly and very knowledgeable. As we drive along the winding roads, I can’t help but admire the beauty of the Irish countryside. The rolling hills and lush green fields stretch out in every direction. We eventually arrive at the Cliffs of Moher. We’re lucky today as the sky is blue and clear.

The Cliffs of Moher are an awe-inspiring sight that has been a part of the Irish landscape for centuries. Located on the western coast of Ireland, these cliffs are made of layers of limestone and sandstone that were formed over 300 million years ago. The cliffs are almost 14 km long and reach a height of 214 meters at their highest point. The Cliffs of Moher were discovered by Irish settlers in the early 19th century and were soon used as a fortification to ward off invading forces. Over time, the cliffs became a popular tourist destination and now feature a visitor center, a café, and several walking paths that offer spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. In the past, the Cliffs of Moher were known for their abundance of wildlife and vegetation. Thousands of species of birds, including puffins and guillemots, nested in the cliffs, and wildflowers bloomed in the springtime. Today, the cliffs are a protected site and are home to a variety of species, including seals and dolphins. The Cliffs of Moher are a reminder of the beauty of the Irish landscape and a testament to the resilience of nature.

I am filled with amazement as I take in the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. The cliffs rise up from the sea and stretch for miles in either direction. I can’t help but marvel at the sheer beauty of it all. 

Our guide takes us on a tour of the cliffs, explaining the history, geology, and wildlife of the area. We learn about the various types of birds that inhabit the cliffs, as well as the different plants and animals that call them home. We also take a guided walk along the cliff edge. I am filled with a sense of admiration and wonder as I look out over the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. I am struck by the sheer beauty of the landscape before me. We also take a tour of O’Brien’s Tower, which was built in 1835 and offers stunning views of the cliffs.

After our walk, we stop at the visitor’s center. Here, we are able to buy souvenirs and learn more about the area. 

At the end of the tour, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and wonder. I am so glad I chose to take this tour and am thankful for the knowledge and experiences I gained along the way. The Cliffs of Moher are truly a sight to behold and I will cherish the memories of this day for years to come.

Toronto, Ontario

Toronto, Canada is a vibrant and exciting city that looks like a postcard. The architecture is a mix of modern glass skyscrapers and classic old buildings, giving it an eclectic feel. The streets are alive with people from all walks of life, from businesspeople in suits to street performers in costume. The city is full of green spaces and parks, and the waterfront is especially beautiful in the summertime. The air is full of the smell of fresh food from the many restaurants, cafes, and markets. Toronto is home to a diverse culture, with people from all over the world living and working together. With its vibrant culture, exciting nightlife, and beautiful scenery, Toronto is a city that has something for everyone.

Toronto, the capital of the province of Ontario, is the largest city in Canada. It is one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world, with over 140 languages spoken. Toronto is a major business hub and is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. Toronto is also home to many attractions, including the world-renowned CN Tower, the Toronto Zoo, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Toronto also boasts a vibrant and diverse nightlife, with a multitude of bars, clubs, and restaurants. Additionally, Toronto is well known for its four professional sports teams: the Toronto Raptors (NBA), the Toronto Blue Jays (MLB), the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), and the Toronto Argonauts (CFL).

I recently had the opportunity to take a two-day trip to Toronto, Canada, and it was an amazing experience! From the vibrant city life to the stunning views of Lake Ontario, I was enthralled by everything the city had to offer. On my first day in Toronto, I visited some of the city’s top attractions including the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Distillery District. The CN Tower is an iconic structure in Toronto and offers a breathtaking view of the city from its observation deck. The Royal Ontario Museum is a great place to learn about the city’s history and culture, and the Distillery District is an interesting area full of shops, restaurants, and art galleries. On my second day in Toronto, I enjoyed a leisurely stroll down Queen Street West, which is known for its eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes, and restaurants. I also visited the Toronto Islands, which provide a beautiful view of the skyline and are a great place to relax and take in the scenery. We took in a show at the iconic Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre, which I highly recommend to anyone visiting Toronto. 

I was excited to finally have the opportunity to visit the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. After all, it's one of the most iconic natural wonders of the world. I arrived in Niagara Falls bright and early on and was instantly taken aback by the sheer beauty of it all. The thunderous roar of the falls, the spectacular rainbow created by the mist, and the vibrant scenery of the town around it – it was truly a sight to behold. I had a wonderful time exploring all that Niagara Falls has to offer. I visited the observation decks, went on the Hornblower Cruise, and even had a chance to sample some of the local cuisines. From the bustling streets of the town to the tranquil beauty of the falls themselves, I will never forget my time in Niagara Falls.

Overall, my two-day trip to Toronto was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and exciting getaway.

San Francisco, CA

Welcome to my three-day adventure in and around San Francisco! From the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to the historic Alcatraz Island, I'm excited to explore this magnificent city and its many attractions. Along the way, I'll be visiting some of San Francisco's most iconic landmarks, sampling its renowned culinary scene, and maybe even catching a glimpse of its wild resident, the famous sea lions. With each day offering something new and exciting, I'm sure to have an unforgettable experience. So, let's get started!

The Golden Gate Bridge is one of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks and a symbol of the city’s spirit. It’s the second-longest suspension bridge in the United States and is considered an engineering marvel. It was built in 1937 and more than 10,000 workers were employed to make it happen. Fun fact: the bridge’s official color is called “international orange” and was chosen to complement the surrounding landscape. 

Pier 39 at Fisherman’s Wharf is one of San Francisco’s most popular tourist spots located right near the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s a great place to shop, eat, and enjoy the views of the Bay. But it’s also home to a fascinating colony of sea lions that can be seen lounging on the docks. The sea lions first appeared in the early 1990s and have been a major attraction ever since. Fun fact: the sea lions have their own official mascot, an animated sea lion named “Sebastian”. The Golden Gate Bridge and Pier 39 are iconic symbols of San Francisco and integral parts of the city’s history and culture. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’re a lifelong resident, these two attractions are must-sees. They’re both great places to explore and learn more about the city’s history and culture. Fun fact: the Golden Gate Bridge is the most photographed bridge in the world!

Lombard Street in San Francisco, California is known as the most crooked street in the world. Located in the Russian Hill neighborhood, it is one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions. Most of the street is lined with beautiful Victorian homes, but what really makes it unique is its hairpin turns. The street was built in 1922 to reduce the steep grade of the hill. It features eight sharp turns, with an estimated grade of 16 percent. It has been featured in many films and TV shows, including the classic film Bullitt. Tourists flock to Lombard Street to get the best view of the city and even try to drive down it. The area surrounding Lombard Street is also known for its beauty. Just a few blocks away is Baker Beach, a popular spot for picnics and sunbathing. On a clear day, visitors can get a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the beach. It has also become a popular spot for taking pictures of the sunset. The area around Lombard Street is a great place to explore and experience the best of San Francisco.  But be warned, it's a steep climb to the top.

The Presidio of San Francisco is a historic military fort and park located at the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula. The Presidio has a long and rich history, having served as a Spanish fort, a Mexican military base, and a U.S. Army post. Today, the Presidio is a national park and a popular tourist destination. It is home to some of the oldest buildings in the city, including the famous Fort Point and the Presidio Officers' Club. Visitors can explore the Presidio's numerous museums and attractions, which include the Golden Gate Bridge, the Walt Disney Family Museum, the Walt Disney Museum of American History, and the Presidio Visitor Center. Marshall's Beach is a popular spot for beachgoers and nature lovers alike. Located just south of the Presidio, Marshall's Beach is a great place to relax and take in the stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge. The beach is also home to a variety of wildlife, including seals, dolphins, and shorebirds. The beach also features a park and picnic area, as well as a small beach cafe. Alcatraz is a former federal prison located on an island in the San Francisco Bay. It is one of the most famous prisons in the world and was home to some of the most notorious criminals in history. While it is no longer in use as a prison, it has become a popular tourist destination. Visitors can take guided tours of the prison, and learn about the history of the prison and its inmates. There are also a number of exhibits, including an audio tour, a gift shop, and a museum.  Book your tour early to Alcatraz, it sells out quickly.

The Painted Ladies of San Francisco are one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. Situated in Alamo Square, the beautiful Victorian-style homes have been featured in countless movies, television shows, and postcards. The Painted Ladies have a long and fascinating history that goes back to the 1800s. The first of the Painted Ladies was built in 1892 by a wealthy Irish immigrant who wanted to build something special for his family. The home was painted a striking shade of pink and became the inspiration for the other homes in the area. Over the years, the homes have become a symbol of San Francisco and have been lovingly restored and painted in bright hues of blue, green, yellow, and pink. The Painted Ladies are surrounded by other landmarks in Alamo Square including the Palace of the Fine Arts. This beautiful structure was built in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition and is an iconic example of the Beaux-Arts style of architecture. The Palace of the Fine Arts is now a popular tourist destination and provides a stunning backdrop for the Painted Ladies. The two landmarks have been immortalized in photographs and postcards and are a must-see for any traveler.

Located beneath the south anchorage of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point is a historic military fortification that was built in the 1860s. The fort was designed by engineer and architect, G.W. McNulty, and is an example of a Third System masonry coastal fortification. It has a unique classical Greek design that was meant to protect San Francisco Bay from potential attacks. Today, Fort Point is a National Historic Site and is open to the public for tours and educational experiences. Fort Point is filled with stories from its history; many of these tales are still told today. One such legend is of the "Lone Sentry," a soldier who was said to wander the fort's grounds at night. His story has been passed down over the years and is still told to this day. Another popular anecdote is of the "Ghost of Fort Point." This tale tells of a soldier who was tragically killed while guarding the fort, and whose ghost is said to haunt the fort's walls. 

At the end of our three-day journey to San Francisco and the surrounding areas, we were exhausted, but with a wealth of memories and experiences to look back on. From taking in the views of the Golden Gate Bridge to exploring the city,  each day was memorable and exciting in its own way. With a deep appreciation for the area, we said our goodbyes to San Francisco and all the wonderful sights it had to offer. Until next time!
